The open beta will take place from April 13, late publisher Square Enix know , and must release “shortly after” follow. The Japanese company does not report how long that period lasts. Although the upgrade is free of charge for existing owners, the game still has a monthly fee that will continue.

These costs are 11 to 13 euros per month, depending on how long the membership lasts. All this is evident from the two-hour live presentation of the game, of which GameSpot has placed the relevant piece in a shorter clip .

The PlayStation 5 version of the game will have graphics quality and performance modes. Quality mode runs in 4k resolution and performance mode switches to 1440p. What kind of frame rate one can expect at 1440p, the presenters do not mention.

In any case, both modes will benefit from ‘drastically faster loading times’, which are also shown in the trailer. Thanks to backward compatibility, the game is already playable on the PlayStation 5.

In addition to a next-gen version, the game also gets a new expansion. That will be the fourth. Endwalker contains the ending of the story of Hydaelyn and Zodiark. In the course of this story, they will have to endure an ‘even greater calamity than ever before’ and will travel far and wide from Hydaelyn and even to the moon.

Furthermore, the expansion will ‘prepare for new adventures’. There will also be a new job and a level cap that will go from 80 to 90. The extension should come out in the fall.
