The relationship between Spotify and Apple is not going through its best moment, and it is something that has been forging for a few years. In March last year, Daniel Ek (founder and CEO of Spotify) filed a lawsuit against Apple before the European Commission accusing them of being “judge and party” in the App Store.
A few hours ago Apple One was launched , a service in which Apple brings together its subscriptions, making it a very attractive and competitive pack. A spokesperson for Spotify once again emphasizes that ” Apple is using its dominant position and unfair practices to harm competitors and deprive consumers by favoring its own services.”
We remember that Apple One comes with three different packs , ranging from 14.95 euros to 29.95 euros per month, bringing together services such as Apple Music, Apple TV + or Apple Arcade.
“Left unchecked, it will cause irreparable harm to the developer community”
These statements are known to us thanks to reporter JD Durkin, who has shared the statement on his Twitter profile. Here is the full statement, in which they ask the authorities to do something “urgently” about it:
“Once again, Apple is using its dominant position and unfair practices to disadvantage competitors and deprive consumers by favoring its own services. We call on the competition authorities to act urgently to restrict Apple’s anti-competitive behavior, which if left unchecked, it will cause irreparable harm to the developer community and threaten our collective freedoms to listen, learn, create and connect. “
Thanks to another reporter ( Stephen Nellis , Reuters) we know what Apple’s response to these accusations is. A company spokesperson says that “Apple One is a great value for consumers and an easy way to access” their subscription catalog, although they can “discover and enjoy alternatives”:

At this time we do not know if these accusations could affect the lawsuit that Spotify launched against Apple last year. Additionally, these new allegations come amid the crossfire with Epic and Fortnite’s departure from the App Store.
